THE LATOYA JORDAN JUMPSTART SCHOLARSHIP

PERSONAL BIO

Latoya Jordan … a native of Pompano Beach, Florida graduated Blanche Ely High school in 1997. Ms. Jordan proudly hails as a graduate from Florida’s oldest HBCU, Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. Jordan is also an inspiring author of a book scheduled for release in early 2019. She is a former “Women’s Pro Basketball Player” (Germany 07′) whose basketball career was cut short due to an injury. As one of Ely’s female Basketball Elite Players, Jordan was named Miss Basketball in 1997, and as such was the first person awarded this honor in Broward County for any sport. She also racked up many awards and record breaking stats during her high school and college career.

WHAT'S MY GOAL AND WHY?

My goal is to provide a scholarship to a deserving graduating female Basketball Athlete at Blanche Ely High School that will help jumpstart her first year in college. Prayerfully the funds will go a long way toward helping her with the many expenses of a first year college student. I too was a recipient of a scholarship from the Pompano Beach community, which meant a lot to me, so much so, I never forgot and vowed to do the same “give back”. It brings me great joy to to offer a scholarship that will do the same for one of our graduating seniors as my award did for me. Hopefully when I have left this earth, my name will live on with great purpose in a sense that I’ve impacted someone’s life by giving back.
